Background
The 1950 Cherryland Festival was a revival of earlier Salem Cherry Fairs held in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The 1950 festival was held throughout the city of Salem, Oregon from Friday June 16 – Monday June 19, 1950. A published schedule of events appears in the June 17, 1950 edition of the Oregon Statesman newspaper. The McEwan Photo Studio of Salem, Oregon documented the festival, which included a Dance Review and coronation of festival royalty, pageant and parades.

Held at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, Friday June 16, 1950, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Paul Armstrong was a dance studio in Salem, Oregon.

Held at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, Friday June 16, 1950, scheduled for 8:30 p.m. Presentation occured Saturday, June 17, 1950. Coronation of festival queen and court.

Pageant of Progress
Scheduled for Friday and Saturday June 16 – 17. Downpour at about 10 p.m. during the Saturday events meant that the presentation was rescheduled for Monday June 19, 1950. Pageant was a dramatic review of historical events in Salem history.
