Edward Allison Reid was born 7 Dec 1904 in Dresden, Ohio to Walter M and Willie J [Mercer] Reid.  The family moved to Oregon from the Midwest in 1925. His father Walter was a master dye man who was offered a job at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill as foreman of the dye department. Ed joined him at TKWM in 1928. 

Ed married three times over the course of his life, the first two marriages ended in divorce. The first took place 9 July 1927 in Salem, OR to Irene Loreta Shipman. The second 9 May 1941 also in Salem, to Marjorie Naomi Beckman. And the third on 6 Jul 1954 in Pendleton, OR to fellow weaver Jessie Valli Donaldson. The couple moved to the Portland area for work at the Portland Woolen Mill where he worked until retirement.  

Ed passed away 16 Jul 1979 in Portland, OR.
