Harvey Clifford Moullet briefly worked at TKWM sometime in April 1936. His sisters Helen and Vera also worked for the mill.
Harvey Clifford Moullet was born 20 Oct 1916 in Gervais, OR to Alfred and Lilly [Darby] Moullet. He was the youngest of three children born to the couple. When Harvey was six years old, his father was killed in a logging accident near Valsetz. The family moved to the Salem area, and his mother married a contractor named Isaac M. Howe.
Harvey graduated from Salem High School and took work with his sisters at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. At the start of World War II, Harvey enlisted in the Navy and went to war. He served from 29 Feb 1944 until discharge 8 Dec 1945. Just prior to his departure, he married Juanita Alice Parrent in Camas, WA. The date was 8 Jan 1944. The couple later divorced.
We have a physical description of Harvey from his draft registration card. He was of light complexion with brown hair and blue eyes. He was 5 ft. 11 ½ in. in height and his weight was 155 lbs.
Harvey married Rose Elaine Sheffer on 24 Feb 1948 in Stayton, OR. The local newspaper reported that their wedding took place on Rose’s birthday. She wore a blue wool frock and carried an arm bouquet of red roses. The only others present were the mothers of bride and groom. Rose was a Stayton High School graduate with the class of 1947 and was employed as a Farwell pharmacy clerk. The bridegroom graduated from Salem High School and served in the navy during the war. Harvey had recently established a garbage hauling business in partnership with his brother-in-law Harry Blanchard. The couple made their home in Stayton.
Harvey and Rose were the parents of several children. They would divorce, remarry on 23 Apr 1961 and divorce again in 1966. Grounds for divorce both times were listed as cruel and inhuman treatment.
Harvey died 11 May 2003 at the age of 85. His obituary stated that he had moved to Portland in 1984 where he managed a service station. He was buried in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. |
