Life Story Roy B. Comstock worked as a spinner and card machine operator at TKWM from 1908-1910 and again between 1930-1942, along with other family members.

Roy Bush Comstock was born 18 June 1891 in Wayne County, Iowa to Edward and Minnie [Burk] Comstock. He was one of seven children in the family. By 1900, the Comstock family had relocated to Salem, Oregon.

On 24 Jun3 1915, Roy married Gertrude Warzetha at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Salem. The couple had four children: Harold, Justin, Gerald, and Ray.

In 1942, during World War II, Roy registered for the draft. His physical description at that time noted he was 5’7” tall, weighed 145 pounds, had a light brown complexion, blue eyes, gray hair and a tattoo on his right arm.

Roy passed away on 12 Jun 1974, at Salem Hospital due to a heart attack. He was 82 years old. At the time of death, he had lived in the Salem area for 75 years and been known for his work as a lath and roofing contractor. He was buried in the St. Barbara Catholic Cemetery. His wife Gertrude died three years later.
