Life Story Anna McGee worked as a weaver at TKWM from 1905-1909. Her father Patrick was the first mill superintendent.

Anna Frances McGee was born 20 Nov 1871 in Blackstone, Massachusetts to Patrick and Margaret [Clarkin] McGee. Her mother died two years after her birth and her father later married Honora McCarthy. Together, they raised twelve children from both families.

Anna’s early years were marked by frequent moves as her family moved from one textile mill to another across New England, the Midwest, and eventually Oregon, due to her father’s expertise in the textile industry. From 1905 to 1909, Anna worked as a weaver at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill in Salem, Oregon where her father served as superintendent.

Anna married Robert Murray on 28 Apr 1906 in Alameda County, California. Both were residents of Oakland. The couple did not have any children. She later married William Arthur Mann on 26 June 1913, in Los Angeles, California. The circumstances surrounding the end of her first marriage remain unknown.

In 1920, her father’s will, dated July 10, 1920, indicated that Anna was residing in the state of Georgia at that time. By 1930, Anna and her husband William had returned to California, and lived at 622 W. 83rd St. in Los Angeles. At this point, Anna was 57 years old. Her husband William worked as a cement contractor. The couple did not have any children.

Anna Frances McGee passed away on 2 Aug 1942, in Los Angeles. She was cremated, and her ashes were interred at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California. Her husband, William died 13 Apr 1952.
