John Printz worked at TKWM in various roles from 1905 to 1935. Wife Emma also worked for the mill.

John Joseph Printz was born on 26 Jan 1864 in North Jackson, Ohio, to Henry and Martha Printz. He was one of six children born to the couple. In 1870, the Printz family lived in Jackson, Ohio, where his father operated a sawmill. By 1880, they had moved to Springfield, Ohio, where Henry worked as a farmer.

On 25 Dec 1888, John married Emma Youren in Mahoning County, Ohio. In 1900, the couple lived in Springfield, Ohio, with their daughters Doretta Pearl and Mary Eva, as well as John’s father, Henry. John worked as a farmer. Around 1905, John and his family relocated to Salem, Oregon.

By 1910, John and Emma were employed at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill in Salem – John as an engineer in the boiler room, with Emma as a burler in the finishing department. Their daughters, Doretta Pearl and Eva, along with grandson John, lived with them. In 1920 and 1930, John continued working at the mill while living in Salem with Emma. By 1930, their grandson Robert D. Over, age 5, also resided with them.

Emma passed away on 18 Nov 1930, at age 64. John died on 5 Mar 1935, at age 71. Both were laid to rest in Belcrest Memorial Park in Salem, Oregon.
