This summer, UO grad Stephanie Johnson has been working to catalogue a collection of artifacts uncovered in an excavation near the site of the Wilson Durbin House. The excavation, conducted in 1990, provides an interesting glimpse into the history of the house through the bits and pieces left behind. The materials from the excavation were donated to the Marion County Historical society and have been sitting uncatalogued on the shelf until now. Stephanie has pulled some of the most exciting pieces and they will be on display in the orientation center of the museum through this summer.
Although the original structure is long gone, a replica was constructed on the grounds of the AC Gilbert’s Discovery Village in Salem.
Is there more where I can read about this and see those photos she has on display?
