The Winter 2011 edition of the Oregon Historical Quarterly, published by the Oregon Historical Society, features an article by Peter Kopp on Hop Farming in the Willamette Valley.  There is a great photo from the OHS collections showing trellises near Silverton, Oregon in 1903.
