StoryĀ |
Al Page worked for TKWM for a short two years beginning in 1930.Ā
Albert E. Page was born in Connecticut on 3 November 1910 to Chester Albert and Mary Page. His father was the superintendent of the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill from 1927-1937, and later part owner of a woolen mill in Brownsville, OR.Ā
There is some indication that Albert continued to live in the East after his father started working for TKWM, but by 1928 at age 18, he had moved to Salem. In late 1929, he married Rhea G Mumper of Scio. At that time, he worked at TKWM as a filling carrier.Ā Ā
Albert and Rhea may have lived in Portland around 1933.The two were divorced by 1935 and Albert briefly moved to Rhode Island. In 1936, Albert married Edna M. Mier of Tacoma, WA. By 1939, Albert and Edna, along with their 5 children, had moved to Brownsville, OR. Albert was a superintendent of and partner with his father in a woolen mill there.Ā Ā
1940 is when Albert’s story becomes a little hazy. We find no draft registration or records of military service even though he would have been required to register for the WW2 draft. In time, he and the family moved to Southern California. Then Albert, possibly without his family, moved to the Midwest and became a clergyman. Albert passed away 1 Mar 1980 in Kansas City, KS. He was returned to Salem for burial at Belcrest Memorial Park. His obituary listed the names of his children with no mention of either wife.Ā |
