Alpha was born 17 Oct 1895 in Albany, Linn, Oregon to parents Joseph Everett Wright and Emelie “Amy” (Hill) Wright. The family returned to Colorado sometime between then and 1900. Maybe because Alpha’s mother’s family was established in Denver at that time.  

Alpha’s father Joseph enlisted in the 4th US Calvary on 9 Mar 1899 when Alpha was only 4 years old. Alpha and her mother were living in Denver when the 1900 census was taken. They were boarding at the home of Edward Jones. Amy’s parents were also living in Denver at this time. 

Alpha’s father Joseph was discharged on 8 Mar 1902. By 1910 the family was back in Oregon, living in Salem at 1453 Mill St. The 1910 census record lists Joseph and Amy being married for 15 years. They remarried in Dec 1912. 

By 1913 Alpha was a student at Capital Business College in Salem, OR. She is boarding at her parents’ home at 1453 Mill St. Her mother was still employed at TKWM and her father is a laborer for CKS Logging Co. 

In 1915 Alpha had finished her schooling and was employed as a stenographer for Statesman Publishing Co. She was rooming at her mother’s residence at 1543 Mill St and her mother was still working for TKWM. Her father Joseph was not living with them, he was rooming at 1311 N 4th. Joseph and Amy apparently divorced. He soon married Laura Mae Butler and they had a son together in 1916.Amy is still living with her mother and working as a stenographer for the Statesman in 1917. The 1920 census has Alpha still living with her mother and her aunt Katie at 1453 Mill St. 

Alpha married Myles Benjamin Young on 28 Jun 1922 in Portland, OR. Her husband was the son of W. C. Young of Salem. They made their home in Portland, OR from that time forward. Myles worked for the Portland Railway Light and Power company. They had no children. 

By 1930 Alpha’s mother Amy was living with them. She remained with them until her death in 1945. Alpha & Myles had no children. Alpha’s father apparently had no further contact with her. She was not listed with the family in Joseph’s obituary. 

Myles Young passed away on the 19 Oct 1958 in Portland, OR. He was laid to rest at the Riverview Abbey Mausoleum and Crematory in Portland. Alpha passed away from cancer on 3 Dec 1967. Alpha and her mother are entombed next to Myles in the Azalea Corridor, North Wall, Tier 4.
