Portrait of William Oliver BrubakerThese photos both depict William Oliver Brubaker, a longtime dentist in Denver, Colorado.  They were sent to his cousin Amma Long in 1899 and 1902 respectively.  They became part of the Willamette Heritage Center’s photographic collection in 1994, when the Long family donated them.

Brubaker was born May 18, 1878 in Park County, Colorado to liveryman William Allen Brubaker (1843-1918) and Jane Oliver (1849-1931).

[1]  On May 19, 1902, he received is Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S) degree and on September 16, 1903 he married Harriet Richardson (born September 27, 1881).  As of 1959, they had no children.[2]  William served as a civilian dentist in the Draft Board examinations between 1941 and 1944, examining future GIs from Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas and Nebraska.[3]  William lived in Denver until his death in August of 1970.[4]
