Chino Champion, 21 May 1948 p 1 B.K. McCormick Passes Away at Home Here After Severe Illness. “Continued illness of several weeks following an attack of pneumonia last Saturday evening claimed the life of Benjamin K. McCormick at his home, 152 North Seventh street.
Born in Illinois, the 86-year-old former nurseryman came to California 42 years ago and for a brief time was employed at the post office in Boulder Creek. He came to Chino about 40 years ago and engaged in the nursery business at the North Seventh street address until he retired.
An initiate into the Odd Fellows lodge after coming to Chino, he served that organization actively for more than a quarter century and despite infirmities of advancing age was a frequent attendant at meetings of the lodge prior to his last illness.
Rev. B.J. Bamber, assistant pastor of the First Christian church, Pomona, of which the deceased was a member, officiated at last rites held Tuesday afternoon from the Heinauer-Griffith chapel. Interment was in Bellevue cemetery, Ontario, with members of Chino lodge of Odd Fellows presiding at burial ceremonies.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ida L. McCormick; a sister, Mrs. Luella Mann of Los Angeles, and a brother George E. McCormick of Inglewood.”
Progress-Bulletin (Pomona, CA) 20 Feb 1962, p 10 MRS. IDA McCORMACK “Mrs. Ida McCormack, 12941 7th St. Chino, died Saturday at a San Bernardino hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born in California Feb. 14, 1877. She had lived in Chino since 1918. Her husband Benjamin McCormack, died in 1948.
Her survivors are two sisters, Mrs. M.B. Hopper of Palo Alto and Mrs. Cora Lobell of Garden Grove, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Hohnold Bros. Chino Mortuary. The Rev. R. Lee Pryor, pastor of Pomona First Christian Church, will officiate.
The Valley Queen Rebekah Lodge 220 will conduct committal services. Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Ontario.” |
