Changing Exhibit: Filaments
December 12, 2023 @ 10:00 am - January 31, 2024 @ 4:00 pm PST
In partnership with and the WeGO (Weaving Guilds of Oregon) , the Salem Fiberarts Guild, WHC will host the 2023 WeGO juried exhibition Filaments.
filament, noun, fil·a·ment
A single thread or a thin flexible threadlike object, process, or appendage
All weavers and fiber artists use filaments of some size and shape to create. This show celebrates our materials and how, individually, we construct them for our purposes. Whether for domestic use, as decorative objects, or purely as art, we consider function as well as form, and choose our fibers accordingly.
The Weaving Guilds of Oregon (WeGO), an association of weaving and fiber art guilds in Oregon, is sponsoring a juried traveling exhibit titled “Filaments” during 2023. The exhibit has been juried by Associate Professor Emerita in the Department of Art, University of Oregon, and internationally renowned fiber artist, Barbara Setsu Pickett. It will travel to six venues throughout Oregon. It began its journey at the Umpqua Valley Arts Association in Roseburg from January 16 through March 17, 2023. Subsequent venues will be at Lincoln City Cultural Center, Lincoln City; Crossroads Carnegie Art Center, Baker City; the Maude Kerns Art Center, Eugene; Central Oregon Community College, Barber Library, Bend; and concludes at the Willamette Heritage Center, Salem at the end of January 2024.
SFG and WEGO Members receive free admission to the museum during the run of this changing exhibit: November 17, 2023 – January 31, 2024
