Willamette Heritage Center Changing Exhibits

Let’s Play! A History of Sports in the
Mid-Willamette Valley

January 24, 2025 – May 24, 2025

Wednesday – Saturday 10 am – 4 pm
Included with museum admission

The latest changing exhibit, Let’s Play brings to life sports memorabilia and stories from the Mid-Willamette Valley’s past. Check the scoreboard of local team heroes, reminisce over vintage uniforms, and gain a sense of nostalgia from the photos brought together from museums, archives and organizations across our region.

Sports foster teamwork, but they can also create a sense of community and belonging. This Heritage Invitational exhibition explores how Mid-Willamette Valley communities have come together through competition.

As a heritage invitational exhibition, this is a unique opportunity to see artifacts in one place from around the Mid-Willamette Valley. Museums and organizations with a connection to Marion, Polk, Linn and Yamhill counties were invited to contribute an artifact connected to this year’s theme. The idea is to broaden the voices being included in the WHC’s exhibits but also offer some publicity and a public forum for these amazing museums in our region, and, by doing so, supporting our overall mission.

Partner organizations: Albany Regional Museum, Aumsville Historical Society, Cherry City Roller Derby, City of Salem Parks and Recreation Department, Brooks Historical Society, Bush House Museum, Independence Heritage Museum, Keizer Heritage Museum, Linn County Historical Museum, Oregon Historical Society, Oregon State Hospital Museum, Polk County Historical Society, Silverton Country Historical Society, Willamette University Athletics Department
