Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Charles O Rose was born in New York in November 1863.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā He married wife Margrette McGee in 1891.Ā The family first appeared in the Northwest,Ā living inĀ Canemah, OR (nearĀ Oregon City).Ā Charles worked as a loom fixerĀ most likelyĀ atĀ theĀ woolenĀ mill there.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā In the next few years, the family moved to a small orchardĀ andĀ farm in Fourth Plains, Washington, just north of the Oregon border.Ā However, CharlesĀ did notĀ give up hisĀ woolenĀ mill career.Ā He left the family in Fourth Plains forĀ extended periodsĀ in order toĀ continue working in a mill.Ā Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Charles first appears in Salem as a weaver at TKWM in 1903.Ā Soon, he wasĀ a foreman.Ā In 1905, CharlesĀ boardedĀ at 230 S 14thĀ in Salem.Ā He worked at TKWM until 1907 when, according to a newspaper article, he left for greener pastures in Eastern Oregon. However,Ā it isĀ more likely he simply tired of being away from his family and returned to his Washington farm.Ā His departure was short-lived however, in 1908 we find him back at TKWM as a weaver. He remained until 1913.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā By the 1930 census,Ā CharlesĀ and wife MargretteĀ have returned to Washington, renting a farm inĀ Proebstel,Ā nearĀ Fourth Plains. Charles died in 1944 and was buried in Park Hill Cemetery, Vancouver, WA. Margaret lived until 1965 and was buried near Charles in Park Hill Cemetery.Ā Ā |
