Dora E Lehman was born on 5 Oct 1909 in Salem to August and Anna Lehman, the youngest child of seven.  Her father had imigrated from Germany in 1891 and found work at TKWM after it opened in 1889.   

Dora started work at TKWM age 16 and was trained by another more experience worker, her brother Carl.  She almost immediately took up with her future husband, Ora Barnes and they were married on Christmas Eve, 1927 after Dora’s 18th birthday.  They bought a house at 1160 S 14th St where they lived for many years.   

Soon after the marriage, Ora left the mill to begin a career as a butcher and grocer.  Ora was also an avid amateur baseball player and Dora was his biggest fan.  In 1946, Dora left the woolen mill to join Ora in a grocery store venture, opening Broadway Market at 119 Broadway St.   

Ora passed away in 1972 and Dora in 1989.  Both are buried in Belcrest Memorial Park.  They had no children.
