Edna Mae Williams was born 5 Feb 1912 in Treasureton, ID to Charles A. and Florence E. Williams. She was the oldest of four children born to the couple. By 1930, according to census records, the Williams family had moved to Salem, OR. Edna was 18 years old, had completed two years of high school, and kept house for the family. Father Charles was a carpenter that built houses. 

Edna married fellow Salemite J. Gordon Brunelle on 29 Jun 1937 in Vancouver, WA. He was a divorcee and worked as a piano tuner. Two children would be born to the couple. The 1940 census records Edna working as a bean canner in a fruit cannery. In July 1952 husband J. Gordon sued for divorce and won. The couple had one child remaining at home. 

In the 1950s, Edna began work at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. It was here that she met second husband Steve Petrasy. They married in 1952. When the mill closed in the 1960s Steve took a job at MacLaren School and worked until retirement in 1969. Edna found work at Hillcrest School. 

Edna’s husband Steve killed himself in the couple’s home on 20 Sep 1982. Edna died 2 Nov 1989. Both were buried in Restlawn Cemetery in West Salem.
