November 18: Oregon’s Century Farm and Ranch Program: Documenting Our Agricultural Heritage Since 1958

Agriculture has been a mainstay of Oregon’s economy and culture for 180 years. In 1958, as part of the state’s 1959 centennial celebration, the Oregon Historical Society and the Oregon Dept. of Agriculture established the Oregon Century Farm Program to honor family farms that had stood the test of time for 100 years or more. More than 1,200 family farms and ranches have been honored since 1958. Century Farm and Ranch coordinator Andréa Kuenzi and committee member Larry Landis will discuss the history of the program and how it has evolved into a key documentation program of Oregon’s agricultural heritage
