Florence was born 26 Apr 1904 in Madison, Iowa to Ernest W. and Mabel T. [McNeley] Osburn. She was one of five children born to the couple. By 1910 the family had moved to Leroy, Colorado according to census records, and then McMinnville, OR by 1920. Florence married Leonard Thomas Baysinger 13 July 1925 in McMinnville. At the time of their marriage, Leonard was a farmer, and Florence was a domestic servant. The couple moved to Leonard’s property on 1975 Fairgrounds Rd. in Salem; they had no children. 

On 30 April 1928 tragedy struck when the couple returned from visiting family in Amity, OR. Leonard stopped the car to repair a taillight and was struck by another automobile. Pinned between the two cars, he bled to death from a severed femoral artery. Florence was taken to the home of her father in Amity with minor injuries, suffering from shock. The police inquest ruled the incident an accident due to rainy weather conditions, a slight rise in the highway that obscured the oncoming driver’s view, and the fact that Leonard had not pulled off the pavement, merely stopped in the middle of the road. He was buried in McBride Cemetery near his family in the McMinnville area. 

After his death, Florence took work as a weaver at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. She moved closer to the mill, boarding until she was able to purchase a home at 30 Abrams Ave. While working at the mill, she met Kenneth D. Goss, the son of Verna Goss Roberts who also worked in the weaving department. They were married on 25 April 1937 in Vancouver, WA. 

The marriage was short-lived, and Florence divorced Kenneth in April 1941, for cruel and inhuman treatment. She continued to work at the Mill as did Kenneth until he left for service in WWII. No children were born to the union. Florence remained at TKWM until 1945. She then worked in a variety of store clerk positions for Mangus Variety, Geb’s Furnishings, and Continental Baking. She died 16 Aug 1971 in Salem at the age of 67. She was buried in Restlawn Memory Garden.
