Frances “Fannie” Anderson briefly worked for the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill in the weaving department from 1920-1921.
Frances Anderson was born 11 Apr 1902 in Denmark to Rasmus and Maria [Nielsen] Anderson. She was one of eight children born to the couple. The family immigrated to the United States in 1908 and came to Scotts Mills, Oregon. She also went by the nickname Fannie.
On 25 Oct 1921 she married Eben Paul Strand, a Californian restauranteur. It is unknown how or where they met. He was married before and was a recent graduate of the Aviation Mechanics School in Great Lakes, Illinois.
They first lived in the San Francisco area where he worked as a cook in a restaurant, then moved to Stockton by 1930 where he took a job managing the Boston Lunch restaurant. The couple were the parents of two daughters: Evelyn and Florence. They lived in this area for twenty-seven years.
In 1950 the census records Fanny as a patient in the insane asylum in Stockton. Additional information regarding her diagnosis and release was unavailable at the time of research. The family moved to Santa Maria in 1954. They were members of the First Methodist Church.
Fannie died 1 May 1971 in Sonoma County, California. She was buried in Santa Maria Cemetery in Santa Barbara County, California. Husband Eben proceeded her in death in 1962. He is buried in the same cemetery. |
