George Bauer worked briefly for the TKWM in the early 1920s as a picker. Son William later worked for TKWM in the weaving department.
George Bauer was born 15 June 1869 in Vienna, Austria to George and Anna Bauer. He immigrated to the United States in the 1880s and came to Brown County, Minnesota where he met and married Mary Ziegler on 29 Apr 1890. They were the parents of nine children: John, Mary, Joseph, George, Andrew, Frank, Albert, Annie, and William.
The family emigrated to the Saskatchewan province of Canada in 1903 following the birth of youngest son William. George’s wife Mary died between 1903 and 1911. The family remained in Canada until 1920 when father George, two daughters, and son William appear in Salem, OR on the U.S. census. Father George took a job at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill as a picker.
They moved in 1927-28 to a small farm near Scio. George took his life on 15 Oct 1932 and was found dead, on his farm by son William Bauer of Salem. He was buried in the Catholic cemetery in Jordan, OR. |
