Life Story |
Glenn Fox worked for the TKWM from 1935 to 1940 in the Picker House. His father Fred, brother Earl, and wife Helen also worked for the mill.
Glenn Ellis Fox was born 6 June 1914 in Keizer, OR. His parents were Frederick W. and Grace [Brink] Fox. He attended public school through the third year of high school. By 1930, the family had purchased a berry farm in the Chemawa area and Glenn worked as a farm laborer.
In 1935, Glenn married Helen Moullet 12 Oct 1935 in Vancouver, WA. It was the first marriage for both. Glenn’s occupation is listed as laborer and Helen’s as “woolen mill.” As both were residents of Salem, Helen presumably worked for the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. The couple lived in Turner, OR and three children were born to them there: Denzell, Glenda, and Linda.
From Glenn’s WWII draft registration card, we know his physical description. He was 5 feet 10 inches in height, and weighed 160 lbs. His complexion was light brown, his hair brown, and eyes gray.
In 1949, Glenn left the woolen mill and worked in the tire department of the Master Service Center in Salem. The family lived at 1795 12th St. Helen took a job as a salesclerk at Montgomery Ward’s department store.
Glenn died unexpectedly of a heart attack on 4 July 1969 while jogging on the track of South Salem High School. He was buried at Belcrest Memorial Park. His wife Helen died over twenty years later, on 23 Nov 1995. She was buried next to him. |
