Story            Isaac Leabo worked as a spinner and finisher at the TWKM along with brothers Joseph and John, for a brief period of time. 

         Isaac Jasper Leabo was born 6 May 1845 in Missouri. He was one of 13 children born to Isaac and Mary [Lewis] Leabo. His family traveled by ox team to the Willamette Valley in 1846 and settled in the French Prairie area in Marion County.  

          He married Ruth McCubbins of Marion County on 5 March 1871. One son was born to this union: William M. The couple divorced. He married twice more: Nancy Putnam on 18 June 1880 and Miriam Harrison on 20 May 1894. 

          Isaac learned the wool trade at the Oregon City Mill and became an expert manufacturer. He followed this work for many years both in Oregon City, at TKWM and later in Linn County. He died 4 Feb 1925 in Lebanon, OR after several years of being an invalid. He was buried in City View Cemetery in Salem, OR

Leabo Los Angeles, and Stepdaughter, Mrs. Bessie Boehringer of Salem, Oregon. Also, two brothers and two sisters survive. Memorial ID: 51933565 “Daughter of James McCubbins & Barbara Allen, married first Isaac Leabo, married second Asa Nisonger. Listed as widowed on her death certificate even though Asa did not die until 1912 indicating they were divorced. Cause of death mitral insufficiency.” 

Newspapers.com  Capital Journal 15 Feb 1926 PIONEER OF ‘46 IS BURIED HERE. “Isaac Jasper Leabo, born in Missouri on the 6th day of May, 1845, died at the family home in Lebanon on February 4, at the age of nearly 81 years. 

 When a year old Mr. Leabo’s parents, Isaac and Mary Leabo, left their Missouri home and started for the Oregon country by ox team and arrived in the Willamette valley in the fall of 1846 and settled on French Prairie in Marion county, where he grew to manhood. Later he went to Oregon City where he became an expert woolen manufacturer, and he followed that work for many years in Oregon city and in Linn county. 

 While residing in Oregon City he joined the Baptist church. In later years he was not actively affiliated with any church but his sympathies were with the Adventists, with which his wife was associated. 

 All his life had been spent in Oregon, in Oregon City, Marion county and Linn county for the last 31 years and in Lebanon for nearly 20 years. For several years he had been an invalid. 

 He is survived by his widow, Miriam Leobo, and one son, William M. Leabo of Los Angeles, One stepdaughter, Mrs. Bessie Boehringer of Salem, two brothers and two sisters. The two brothers and sisters are Thomas M. Leabo of Portland, Joseph Leabo of Seattle, Mrs. Elizabeth McCluskey of Toledo, Or., and Mrs. Emma Stein of Portland. He was laid to rest in the City View cemetery. 

 Oregon Journal 7 Feb 1926 ISAAC LEABO “Lebanon, Feb. 6—Isaac Leabo, 81, for 80 years a resident of Oregon, died at his home here Thursday. He had been an invalid for 15 years. He was born in Missouri, May 6, 1845, and the following year was brought by his parents to Oregon. They first settled on French Prairie; north of Salem. For a time he was associated in the woolen mills industry of the Willamette valley. His wife, a son and a stepdaughter survive. Funeral services will be held here Sunday morning with burial at Salem.”
