Story  Jane Bean worked for TKWM as a weaver for a short time around 1909/1910 then again in 1913.

Jane D. Moore was born on 23 Oct 1840 with some references saying she was born in Ireland and others, in Massachusetts.  Little is known about her early life but she was married to John T. Bean when she was about 20.  The couple had their first child, Jennie, in 1865 while living in New Jersey.  The family later lived in Massachusetts for a few years but, when Jennie was about 4, they moved to Oregon.

By 1880, Jane and her family were farming in Clackamas County and, in 1882, John was issued a land grant for about 38 acres east of the current town of Canby.  By that time, Jane had borne three more children, Nellie, Sophia and Thomas.  Sophia was born in Dec 1973 at home with only 8-year-old Jennie there to help her mother.

Around 1895, after the children were grown, John and Jane returned to Massachusetts and one reference shows John working as a spinner.  John died in Fall River, Massachusetts on 8 Mar 1901.  By 1909, widow Jane had returned to Oregon and was living with her son Thomas in a boarding house on South 12th St in Salem.  At age 70, Jane worked as a weaver at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill and 33-year-old Thomas was a wagon driver.  Other mill employees that lived at the boarding house were weavers Henry Most 53, Adeline Watts 21, Adaline Colletti 58, and finisher Mary Sheridan 40.

Jane may have taken a break for mill work but she was back as a spooler at TKWM in 1913.  After that, there is no other record of her employment. Jane died on 18 May 1916 at a home she shared with her daughter, Nellie (Bean) Bruns at 2330 N 4th St in Salem.
