Leonard “Boots” Donaldson worked as a spinner at TKWM in the early 1940s along with his father Oscar and uncles.
Oscar Leonard Donaldson Jr. was born 13 Sep 1916 in Salem, OR to Oscar Leonard and Ella [Comstock] Donaldson. To avoid confusion with his father he went by Leonard. He was one of four children born to the couple. He attended public schools in Salem then went to Willamette University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during WW2. After the war he married Suzanne Eccles Wiley on 1 Sep 1946 in Portland, OR. His occupation at the time was in the Social Security Administration. She worked as a stenographer.
They moved to Salinas, CA in 1962 to open a local Social Security office. Prior to that time they had lived in Portland, Eugene and Salem. He was the district manager for the Social Security Administration, until his retirement in 1975. After that, he was a substitute teacher for the Salinas school district and worked as a part-time manager for the Monterey County Federal Employees Credit Union. His wife Suzanne died 5 Nov 1997. Leonard passed 29 Jan 2006 at the age of 89. Both are buried in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR. |
