Louis Raveaux worked as a spinner at TKWM from Aug 1904-Jun 1907 along with brother Paul, and sisters Mary and Rose.
Louis Raveaux was born 17 Sep 1887 in Paris, France to Leopold and Mary Ann [Laurence] Raveaux. He was one of five children born to the couple. The family immigrated to the United States in the early 1880s and settled first in South Dakota. They came to Salem, OR by the late 1880s.
Louis received an 8th grade education at the Catholic School, then took work at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. He first worked as a spooler, then moved to wool grading. After his father’s death in 1909, the family moved to Portland. He married Elizabeth Spangenberg on 2 May 1914 in Salem, Oregon. She was a German immigrant, a widow with a son named Leonard.
Louis continued to work as a laborer with animal hides, pelts and wool for the remainder of his life. At the time of his death the family lived at 2308 NE Rodney Ave. in Portland. He died of acute nephritis, cause unknown. He was buried in the Raveaux family plot in the Catholic Cemetery [St. Barbara’s] in Salem, OR. His father, mother, and brothers are also buried there. |
