Myrta McAllister worked at TKWM in 1893 as a seamstress along with sister Jeanetta.
Myrta McAllister was born 1 Apr 1871 in Hamilton, Missouri to August and Agnes Amelia [Hall] McAllister. She was one of seven children born to the couple. The family emigrated to Salem in 1890, via Kansas. Myrta worked briefly for the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill as a seamstress in 1893.
She married first husband Andrew James Murphy on 15 Feb 1893 in Salem, OR. By 1900 the couple had moved to Portland where Andrew worked as a liveryman and later a superintendent for an Express Depot. They were the parents of three boys, Augustus, Harold and Andrew Murphy.
Husband Andrew died 4 Mar 1915 at age 53 in St. Paul, OR. He was buried in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. Two years later she married J W Yandle in Vancouver, WA.
Myrta died 4 July 1954 at age 83 in a Milwaukie nursing home. She was buried in Greenwood Hills Cemetery in Portland, OR. |
