2006.013.0067. Rev. Plutarch S. Knight. Boston-born, he came to Oregon in 1853 and was pretty much a Renaissance man. He worked as reporter and editor for the Oregon Statesman, served as State Librarian, was admitted to the bar, became a pastor at the Congregational Church in Salem, and served as the superintendent of the Oregon School for Deaf Mutes. You’ve got to love the reverend’s sense of style.
I’m a little disappointed, though, that he wasn’t wearing a bow tie.
