You can still catch the exhibit at 2023 ANWG Conference in Bend at Central Oregon Community College Barber Library from June 5-August 30, 2023. Margaret Kilbuck Johansen was a noted fiber artist in Oregon. Originally having studied lithography, she began weaving after moving to the Pittsburgh area in the mid-1950s, quickly becoming proficient and by the 1960s at the forefront of the emerging Fiber Art Movement in America.
In conjunction with the Salem Fiberarts Guild and Johansen’s family, the WHC will host a retrospective of Johansen’s work.
I have one of Margaret Johansen’s woven tapestries bought in 1960. It has walnuts and wool incorporated. Still love it. Would like to send a picture. To whom?
